Fire & Safety
Intent to protect the building assets and people lives from fire, there are lot of combustible materials are storing in all kind of building which will leads the major spread of fires, we don’t have mechanism to stop the fire ignitions, there are so many reasons for fire ignitions and most common cause is electrical short circuits. The only option is to stop the fire in early stage so that we can safeguard lives and assets. KP Aasociates have qualified team to select and implement the suitable and effective fire measures and variety of suppression systems to protect them.
KP AASOCAITES works closely with the clients to understand the requirements in detailed to give the suitable solutions. We design Suitable fire protection system to meet clients’ specific needs, timeline and budget, as well as all fire codes and regulations.
We have in-house team those who are most conserve with the Nation and International codes to deliver the doable solutions.
Our solutions include:
- Fire pumps & water tanks
- Positive Pumps are used in fire systems to give the suitable pressure and water flow to protected the building assets and human lives, Varity of pump sets are being used in fire protection systems like horizontal split case pumps, end suction pumps, vertical turbine pumps etc.
- The pumps capacities are selected to comply the national and international codes or AHJ for different occupancies.
- Water tank sometimes call it as reservoir to store the designed water capacity and connected to pumps. Dedicated inlet connections to fill it and outlet connection for pumps connections,
- The water tanks installed & designed in such way that always having the full of water to suppress the fire emergency cases. The capacities will be as per notional or internal codes for different occupancies.
Sprinkler system
- Sprinklers are most common element in fire protection system to suppress the fires, the selection of right sprinklers based on the type of hazard occupancy, nature of the building and codal requirements.
- As per BIS, NFPA, FM or AHJ all the building premises shall be protected with the sprinklers, the right sprinkler to be selected based on the hazard occupancy and nature of the building. The minimum sprinkler sizes are documented in relevant codes.
- The sprinklers called in terms of “ K – Factor “ K-80. K-115, K-160, K-240, K-320, K-360 & K-420.
- Each zone of the sprinkler protected area being feeded from Zone control valve assembly which is further monitored in fire alarm system.
- A alarm valve shall be provided for sprinkler system tapping after the pumps, ideally located within the pump room or AHJ.
- Sprinklers are Standard response, Quick Response, Extra Coverage, Extra Large, Side wall, Pendent, Upright, Concealed type, ESFR, CMDA, CMSA etc.
- The Temperate of the sprinklers shall be at lease 20Deg more than the ambient temp or as per relevant codes.
In rack sprinkler system
- Now way days storage configuration were changed a lot-Multi tire, double row, single row, Multi row, Bulk storage, ASRS etc,
- To protect the rack storage materials, in rack sprinklers are introduced to suppress the fires in that particular location before the fire spread it to other area. It will help to save the lot damage.
- There are some many design approaches to protect the storages using the in rack sprinklers.
- The right suitable sprinklers are to be selected based on the type of storage materials, racking arrangement, height of the storage, commodity classification, palletised, etc.
- In rack sprinklers are Quick responses, Standard Response, Extra Coverage, and Early Suppression, Fast Reaction etc as per codes requirements BIS, NFPA, FM or AHJ.
- Foam based sprinkler systems
- Foam systems are specifically engineered and designed to protect areas where flammable and combustible liquids are present and where conventional water-based systems are not adequate.
- The foam system consists of a bladder tank, proportioner, and a foam concentrate that when mixed with water and air, produces a foam that is less dense than the liquid it serves to protect.
- When the foam is introduced to water soluble fuel, it forms a blanket that will separate the fuel from oxygen at the surface level and assist in smothering the fire while creating a barrier to the vapors.
- Foam systems fall into three categories: Low Expansion, Medium Expansion, and High Expansion foams. The foam agent will be AFFF or AR AFFF.
Water spray systems:
- Water Spray Nozzles is a non-clogging open type directional spray nozzle designed for discharging a solid uniform cone spray of water droplets in a pre-determined spray angle and direction.
- Fixed water spray systems employed for cooling of storage tanks & vessels, exposure protection of structures, control burning, dilution and dispersion of flammable vapours and extinguishment of Class A Fires and transformer areas,.
- The Fixed water spray system consists of Deluge valve, Spray nozzles, control valve and Detection Bulbs. When the QBD detect the fire, it will active the Deluge value to allow the water into the spray nozzles to spray the water drop plates uniform cone spray of water droplets in a pre-determined spray angle and direction., also a manual release switch at Deluge side to override for manual activation.
- Spray Nozzles are available in wide range of K Factor, spray angle and at working pressure between 1.4 BAR to 3.5 BAR with material of construction in SS:316 & Brass.
- Water spray systems are two types-Medium velocity and high velocity.
Gas bases suppression systems
- Gaseous fire suppression, also called clean agent fire suppression, is a term to describe the use of inert gases and chemical agents to extinguish a fire.
- There are three common categories of gaseous clean agent fire suppression systems. These are inert gas, chemical clean agent, and carbon dioxide systems
Pre action systems.
- Pre-action sprinkler systems keep the piping in the protected area dry. Instead of water, the sprinkler piping is filled with air or nitrogen. This makes some pre-action systems the system of choice for protecting freezing areas such as refrigeration installations.
- Different pre-action systems employ different regimens in the activation of the main valve and release of water into the protected area through the sprinklers. The choice of pre-action system depends on the designer’s priorities regarding the level or type of protection needed.
- Type of pre-action systems- Non interlock pre-action system, Single Interlock pre-action system & double interlock pre-action system.
- Pre-action valve systems are more expensive than an ordinary deluge valve system because they are more complex and require significantly more components for proper functioning. However the type of protection they afford makes them the system of choice in many applications.
Portable fire extinguishers.
- Portable fire extinguishers function by releasing an extinguishing agent intended to cool the fuel, remove or displace the oxygen, or stop the chemical reaction. Fire extinguishers can put out or control a fire until help arrives
- There are five different fire extinguishers, which are:
- Water, water mist or water spray fire extinguishers.
- Foam fire extinguishers.
- Dry Powder – standard or specialist fire extinguishers.
- Carbon Dioxide (‘CO2’) fire extinguishers.
- Wet Chemical fire extinguishers.
